Easy Curd Recipes for Winter

Feeling like a chill in the air? Winter has arrived, and with it the call for cosy comfort foods! And what better way to warm up those shivering bones than with a chilled bowl of curd? This creamy ingredient, also known as yoghurt or dahi, is not only delicious but also packed with goodness of protein and probiotics. It`s a versatile ingredient that can be used in many ways, from sweet to savoury, making it the perfect addition to your winter recipe collection.


Let us share some easy and delicious curd recipes that you can prepare at home during the winter months. From raita and kebabs to dips and curries, these recipes are sure to keep you warm and satisfied. So, grab your chef hat and apron to make this winter a tasty one!

1. Raita

  • Take a bowl to soak boondi in water.
  • As it softens in about 30-60 minutes, squeeze out the excess water.
  • In a bowl, add curd and whisk it until creamy and smooth.
  • Add the soaked and squeezed boondi to this curd.
  • Now add salt, green chilies, roasted cumin powder, mint powder, and red chilli powder as per your taste.
  • Mix them well. And adjust the spices as per your taste.
  • Fresh raita is now ready to be served.

2. Dahi ke Kebab

  • Take a big bowl and spread a muslin cloth over it.
  • Add curd to this cloth. Hold all four corners of the cloth to squeeze out excess water.
  • Place this dahi under a heavy material to apply pressure and drain the remaining water.
  • Keep untouched for a few hours.
  • Mix the hung curd with grated paneer.
  • Now add garam masala, ginger paste, chopped onions, cashews, green chilies, coriander leaves, and salt.
  • You can also add breadcrumbs to bind the mixture together.
  • Now take some of the filling and slowly shape it into a ball.
  • At the end, flatten the balls. Check if there are any cracks to join them.
  • Dip the flattened balls in gram flour.
  • Grill them on both sides in a pan and serve hot.

3. Thayir Sadam

  • Thoroughly wash rice and add it to the cooker.
  • Pressure cook the rice till they are mashed. Preferably wait for 5-6 whistles.
  • Allow rice to cool down.
  • Now, add a cup of curd to it and mix it well.
  • Add milk to the size of 1/4th of the curd.
  • Mix it and check for any lumps.
  • Now add spices like ginger, salt, green chilli, coriander, and curry leaves as per your taste.
  • Mix it well and serve.

4. Dahi Arbi

  • Wash the arbi and pressure cook them for 5-6 whistles.
  • Allow them to cool down and then peel off the skin.
  • Fry Arbi in oil on medium heat for 5-6 minutes and keep them aside.
  • Heat 2 tbsp oil in another pan, now add 1-2 tbsp carom seeds to it.
  • Keep the heat low.
  • Add red chilli powder, coriander powder, and other spices. Ensure to mix them well.
  • Add fried Arbi to the mix and add mango powder.
  • Now add curd to the mixture and stir for 5-7 minutes.
  • Dahi Arbi is ready to serve your guests.

5. Curd Sandwich

  • For stuffing preparation, choose some vegetables of your liking.
  • Cut these veggies finely and transfer them to a bowl.
  • Add curd to these vegetables.
  • Now add spices as per your taste. Mix them well.
  • To prepare sandwiches, take bread slices and spread butter on them.
  • Now spread the vegetable dahi stuffing on the bread.
  • Place the sandwiches on the grill.
  • Serve them hot with sauce.
